AFCONA - 1501

AFCONA - 1501 is a modified fatty acid polymer in a water solution. This product is compatible with resins most commonly used in water-based coatings and provides pigment wetting, stabilizing performance, and is able to cross-link in polyurethane systems and baking paints. AFCONA - 1501 functions as a universal dispersing resin tailor-made for the production of aqueous-based universal pigment concentrates, finding application in water-based coatings.

Dispersing additive Modified Fatty Acid Polymer AFCONA-1501 is an universal dispersing resin tailor-made for the production of aqueous-based universal pigment concentrates.AFCONA-1501 shows a good pigment wetting and stabilizing performance and excellent compatibility with the resins most commonly used in water-based coatings. Due to the primary hydroxyl groups AFCONA 1501 is able to crosslink with stoving paints as well as polyurethane systems. Complete water-solubility will be obtained by addition of e.g. 8% AMP 95. AFCONA – 1501 is recommended to combine with other high mol weight dispersants like; AFCONA – 4560, AFCONA – 4570 or AFCONA – 6225 for preparation of water based pigment concentrates. Pigment concentrates containing AFCONA – 1501 have below special properties:1)Very easy incorporation even at low speed2)Help to provide better pigment stability3)Help to prevent drying of pigment paste on the surface and on the wall of the container.4)Contain a primary OH group which can involve cross-linking in systems like PU and baking paint.Remark : Due to higher binder content than resin free concept, it allows less pigment loading.
