AFCONA- 2020

AFCONA – 2020 is a very strong defoamer for most solvent-based systems. Even at low dosage AFCONA-2020 already can act as a very strong defoamer. Strong defoamers have strong incompatibility, therefore, AFCONA – 2020 can easily causes in-can haziness in high gloss clear coats even at low dosage. However, in the dry film the influence on gloss is minimal.

Defoamers Modified polyvinyl polymer, silicone free AFCONA-2020 is suitable for solvent- based coatings, printing inks and thermosetting resin systems. It eliminates foam and blistering, regardless whether the air bubbles are caused by the substrate.As mentioned, AFCONA-2020 has very high defoaming as well as anti-foam properties. In most cases, the de-aeration property is satisfactory. To improve further the de-areation performance, a combination with silicone defoamers like AFCONA-2023 or AFCONA2045 at 0.1-0.2% is recommended.AFCONA-2020 is particularly suitable for the following applications:1) Nitrocellulose lacquers and acid-cured wood finishes especially those applied by curtain coaters2) Two-component polyurethane lacquers, except for high gloss clear (due to it high incompatibility), which are applied by spraying or brushing3) Cold cured epoxy resin systems, as well as unsaturated polyester systems (SMC, BMC and gel coats)4) Baking paint applied by curtain coater and dipping5) Any other solvent based system where in-can transparency is not important likes coloured and matted systems.
