AFCONA - 2724

Defoamer and air-releaser for unsaturated polyester, Polyurethane, UV and epoxy resin systems. AFCONA-2724 is an alternative to AFCONA – 2720 in high solid application systems like, UPE, epoxy and polyurethane. It not only gives very good transparency, it also performed as reasonable good de-aerator in polyester and epoxy resin systems. This ensures the production of foam- and bubblefree compounds/parts. Especially in epoxy, it gives a very good compatibility. The use of AFCONA -2724 in epoxy resin systems will not only gives good defoaming, but also good levelling of the surface (no crater and air-bubbles). 

Defoamers Silicone based defoamer AFCONA-2724 is a special additive for thin layer (gel coat), casting resins and epoxy resin systems (e.g. floorings). In addition, it can be used for room temperature curing of unsaturated polyesters, which are used in glass fiber reinforced systems. AFCONA-2724 can be used in pigmented or non-pigmented resin systems such as: 1) unsaturated polyesters (SMC/BMC gel coats and synthetic mortars) 2) two-pack epoxies 3) Polyester/melamine stoving systems 4) PVC-compounds Note: AFCONA – 2724 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the quality. Addition and dosage 0.1 -0.5% on total formulation. In general under normal condition, the dosage is 0.1 – 0.3% based on total formulation Incorporation To avoid foam- and bubble-formation AFCONA-2724 should be mixed at the beginning of the production/application into the system. If it is added at the end of the formulation, a good dispersion must be ensured. StorageAFCONA-2724 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture.
