AFCONA – 6230
Anionic wetting and dispersing agent for
inorganic pigments and fillers. AFCONA-6230 is a wetting and dispersing
agent for inorganic pigments and fillers in
solvent-based, solvent-free and water-based
systems. It also helps to improve the color
acceptance.
Wetting and dispersing additive Aliphatic polyether with acidic groups AFCONA – 6230 has below special properties and recommended in below systems:1) Increases pigment loadings in the mill bases or in pigment concentrates. This enables to achieve VOC levels below 250 g/l in high filled solvent-based systems.2) AFCONA – 6230 can be used in all solventbased and solvent-free industrial and decorative coatings. It is especially suitable for wetting, dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments and fillers in solventfree epoxies and polyurethanes, like flooring or pipe-line coatings.3) AFCONA – 6230 also can be used to decrease the viscosity of water based resinfree pigment concentrates, based on high molecular weight dispersing agent AFCONA – 4560.4) AFCONA – 6230 performs in dispersing and stabilizing inorganic pigments and fillers in water-based decorative paints based on acrylic emulsions, giving better rheology and improved gloss.5) Due to the polyether structure, it also can be used as colour acceptance additive.Note: AFCONA – 6230 will become hazy or even crystallize at temperatures below 15° C. and below. Re-heat the material before use if crystallization happens. This will not influence the quality of AFCONA - 6230.Addition and dosage1 – 3% based on fillers and inorganic pigments5 – 7% based on organic pigmentsIncorporationAFCONA-6230 when used in mill base should be added before grinding. If it is used in post addition in pigment concentrates, a good dispersion is required.StorageAFCONA-6230 should be stored in a cool dry place, preferable at room temperature ≥ 20° C. Haziness and solidification can take place if the temperature dropped below 15°C. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture.
