Clariant, a global leader in specialty chemicals, announced that its EnviCat N2O-S catalyst has successfully reduced nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions by 275 kilotons of CO2 equivalent at Sichuan Lutianhua's nitric acid plant in China.

Sichuan Lutianhua, a recipient of Clariant's Climate Campaign, implemented the EnviCat N2O-S catalyst in August 2024. This easy-to-install technology can reduce N2O emissions by up to 95% in nitric acid production plants.

Nitric acid production is a significant source of N2O, a potent greenhouse gas. By partnering with Clariant, Sichuan Lutianhua is taking a significant step towards a more sustainable future.

Xaver Karsunke, Vice President of Clariant Specialty Catalysts, emphasized the importance of such partnerships in addressing climate change. "We are proud to support companies like Sichuan Lutianhua in their sustainability goals," he said.

Sun Guang, Assistant General Manager at Sichuan Lutianhua, expressed satisfaction with the results. "The EnviCat N2O-S catalyst has significantly reduced our N2O emissions, aligning with our commitment to environmental responsibility," he stated.

Clariant's EnviCat N2O-S catalyst is a testament to the company's dedication to sustainable solutions. By offering innovative technologies and supporting customers in their decarbonization efforts, Clariant is making a positive impact on the environment.
