Riverdale's Improved Liquid Processing Aid Boosts Recycled Materials Processing
An improved series of liquid processing aid agents from Riverdale Global is said to allow for higher loadings resulting in significant cost savings. The new +Zero formula which also serves as an antistatic agent and mold release has been shown to provides improved processing of virgin as well as recycled material. It enables the use of higher percentage of recycled material as well as the use of lower-grade recycled material, while flow and dispersion rates reportedly are also improved along with reduced cycle time.
The company’s +Zero processing aid agents prevent the buildup of static electric charges that occur on the surface of plastic parts while processing, and also function as an excellent mold release agent so that by reducing surface tension on the parts, cycle times can be reduced – by up to 25%. They also offer the ability to use 100% regrind material so that processors will see excellent mold release of parts when using either virgin or recycled material. They are compatible with polyolefins, styrenics, PVC, and some engineering resins.
Said director of sales Jared Arbeter,“The new price point for this additive ensures processors will see significant savings while using a higher percent and/or a lower grade of recycled material. The new +Zero additive is another step in our customers journey for increased sustainability – by effectively using recycled resins in their processing. Our liquid colors and additives also have lower inventory requirements, since they take up only about one-fourth of the space needed for an equivalent amount of concentrates. In addition, they are not subject to the minimum-order requirements posed by many concentrate suppliers.”
